Update for the Class of 2020

On October 10, an email went out to all graduates of the Class of 2020 from Marching Order.

We are asking all Class of 2020 graduates who plan to participate in the in-person commencement ceremony to RSVP so that the appropriate ceremony plans can be made. Please respond to this email as soon as possible. RSVPs to participate in the ceremony must be received by Friday, Nov. 5, 2021.

The email will ask for your RSVP as well as information on how to correctly pronounce your name.

Guest tickets are not yet available as the number that each graduate will be allowed will depend on the number of RSVPs received. Guest tickets will be available beginning December 3, 2021. Tickets will be electronic and graduates will be able to email them to guests.

Message to the Class of 2020

Wednesday, August 4, 2021

Dear Class of 2020,

A year and a half ago, your final semester at Valpo was turned upside down. No one could have predicted the effect COVID-19 would have on life as we knew it. At the onset of the pandemic, Valpo promised you would have the opportunity to celebrate your commencement in person. Ultimately, in the interest of health and safety, the University decided to hold your commencement virtually instead of in person.  We realize this was not the way you envisioned celebrating the culmination of your hard work and accomplishments at Valpo.

I want to assure you that we intend to come through on our promise  – you have not been forgotten. We are finalizing plans to host a commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 on Sunday, December 19, 2021. Details will be shared as they become available and I encourage you to visit the commencement website for the most up to date information. Please also be sure to check your Valpo email address regularly, as this is the address we will use to communicate details regarding this long overdue, and well-deserved, celebration.

Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout the past year. I look forward to honoring you and your achievements in December.
