Born and raised in Valpo, Professor Douglas graduated from Valparaiso High School and attended Miami University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in sociology.  She attended Capital University Law School, where she graduated summa cum laude and earned her Juris Doctorate with a focus in federal appellate advocacy. 

Before coming to Valparaiso University, Professor Douglas worked as a federal appellate judicial clerk for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and also practiced law primarily as a litigator in Columbus, Ohio.  She joined the Communication Department in 2012.  Her areas of teaching interest include interpersonal communication, public speaking, negotiation and conflict resolution, and Internet communication.
