Adjunct Instructor

I am looking forward to a great semester with each of you.

The 2016 spring term was my first semester teaching at Valparaiso University as a part-time faculty member, but I am not new to higher education. I’ve been teaching at Ivy Tech Community College and Purdue University for over twenty years. Courses include Information Technology Management, Database Administration, Networking, Operating Systems, and Computing Logic just to name a few courses in both a traditional classroom setting and online. My area of expertise is with database management.

Prior to starting my career in teaching in 1994, I was a Database Administrator and Administrative Services Manager with the Northwest Indiana Department of Workforce Development Services where I managed computer operations and staff training at eight offices in six counties.

When I worked full time as an Associate Professor at Ivy Tech, I also served as the regional Program Chair for the Computer Information Systems/Technology programs for two years & then accepted the Dean of the School of Business position in 2009 at Ivy Tech Northwest (East Chicago, Gary, Valparaiso, and Michigan City.) I retired from full time employment status in 2014 to return to what I enjoy doing most and that is to teach. In addition to teaching part time at VU, I also teach part time at Purdue University Northwest in Westville & at Ivy Tech Valparaiso campus.

It has been a great honor for me become part of the faculty team at Valparaiso University which I consider as the premier organization of post-secondary education in the region. The academic programs are excellent and have a great impact in helping students to reach their professional and career objectives. I sincerely believe that VU can and will for you, too, if you put forth the effort to study hard and learn well.

Something special about me is that I am a musician. I play the mandolin with my husband of twenty nine years who plays guitar where we lead the singing services at our church each week on Sunday mornings.

I think you will like this course, and I look forward to assisting each of you reach your educational goals at VU.

Best wishes for a great semester!

Yours Truly,

Professor Gina Rue
