Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:
As we continue to monitor updates regarding the quickly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the health, safety, and well-being of all campus community members remain at the forefront. Our Incident Command and Executive Management Council teams are meeting daily and in continuous discussion to respond quickly and adapt contingency plans as necessary.
With this in mind, and in response to guidance from the CDC and the White House addressing face-to-face events and meetings, all Valparaiso University face-to-face gatherings, social events, and meetings with more than 10 individuals are canceled through April 12, 2020. This determination is not meant to interrupt daily operations or limit building capacities; rather, it applies solely to face-to-face social events, gatherings and meetings, whether they involve our employees on campus, or have been scheduled by external groups. We strongly encourage our campus colleagues to move to virtual meetings, teleconferences, or other remote options, even for gatherings with fewer than 10 participants, during this time.
In all cases, we encourage individuals to practice social distancing and to maintain distance from others when possible.
Thank you for your adaptability, patience, and understanding as together we navigate this uncharted territory. The Valparaiso University community is at its best when we unite toward common purpose, and I am confident in the resiliency and commitment of our students, faculty, and staff to persevere through these challenges.
