COO David Phelps: Remote Work Update

Dear Faculty and Staff,
As an employee working remotely, you undoubtedly have questions about the when, where, and how of returning to normal operations. However, while the Governor’s Stay-at-Home order is scheduled to expire on May 1, that will not automatically mean you can return to campus or that things will be back to the same routine prior to the COVID-19 emergency. While we anticipate the Governor will direct some modifications to the current order, it is expected that Indiana will follow a phased reopening of the state. A phased reopening will include guidelines and mandatory safe practices to protect employees and the general public from COVID-19 exposure or transmission.
The University is in the planning stages for what a reopening of our campus will look like. The University’s Incident Command Team together with managers across the campus are developing best practice recommendations based on CDC guidance and what we anticipate a phased reopening will look like. Additionally, you will be receiving a survey shortly to assess issues related to your return to campus. Once the surveys are returned and reviewed and guidelines are approved by the Executive Management Committee, your supervisor will contact you to discuss the process for reopening your work area. Until that time please continue to work remotely unless otherwise directed by your supervisor.
