Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:
Yesterday, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb issued four executive orders, including a stay-at-home order instructing all Indiana residents to remain in their homes except for essential activities. An FAQ outlining the details of this order is available online.
In light of this directive, Valparaiso University’s campus is moving to remote delivery of most services, effective 10:59 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, March 24:
- The Christopher Center for Library and Information Resources and the Campus Bookstore will be providing online and remote services only, and access to all academic buildings will be prohibited for students and those who do not normally have keys to a specific building.
- The Harre Union hours will be limited to meal times only and changes to hours will be communicated in a future email as this fluid situation continues to evolve. As a reminder, patrons of Valpo Dining Services may acquire to-go meals to be consumed in areas other than the Founders Dining Room, Hearth Room, or the Café dining area.
- Campus Transportation will be suspended effective at 9 p.m. on March 24.
- If you feel unsafe and need transportation you should reach out to VUPD at 219.464.5430.
Please be mindful the CDC guidance limits social gatherings to 10 or fewer people, while some states have reduced that limit to no more than 2 people. We encourage individuals to practice social distancing and clean and disinfect personal areas when possible.
Thank you for your understanding and for doing your part to slow the spread of COVID-19.
