Monday, January 24, 2022

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Decolonizing Mindfulness: Reclaiming Collective Health and Working Towards Liberation (CORE APPROVED) – Ballroom A, Harre Union – Presented by Karla Campos and Jyotsna (Joy) Dhar from Northwestern University.

The purpose of the presentation is to examine Westernized mindfulness practices to recenter collective healing and to promote wholistic wellness by centering the lived experiences of the people of the global majority through embracing liberatory practices.

12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Take a Moment to Engage in Guided Imagery – Alumni Room, Harre Union – Presented by Mandy Morrill-Richards and Olivia Gorman.

Take a break from your day to relax with a guided imagery meditation.  

5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Optimizing Performance – Gandhi-King Room, Harre Union – Presented by Stewart Cooper and Tony Suarez.

The Optimizing Performance presentation will focus on helping athletes and other high level performers learn the techniques from performance psychology to enhance coping with high performance related anxiety and to achieve improved performance under high stress.

Tuesday, January 25, 2022

10:00 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. – Tuesday Morning Prayer: Taizé Prayer Around the Cross – Gloria Christi Chapel, on the east end of the Chapel of the Resurrection – presented by Chapel Staff.

Taizé worship is meditative, with the singing of short pieces of music numerous times, allowing time for reflection and meditation. The service is 20 minutes long; come and go as your schedule allows.

10:30 a.m – 11:30 a.m. – ‘Til Degree or Death Do You Part: Considerations for Married or Partnered College Students – Alumni Room, Harre Union Presented by Tony Suarez.

This presentation will focus on the benefits and challenges of being married or partnered while being a college student and will also provide tips for managing school and family obligations.

4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Campus Recreation & Relieving Daily Stressors – Alumni Room, Harre Union – Presented by Callaway Kinney.

This presentation will focus on the types of stress and how campus recreation can help relieve stress. 

Wednesday, January 26, 2022

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Living with Mental Illness (CORE APPROVED) – Mueller Hall Refectory, Mueller Hall/Christ College – Presented by Liz Wuerffel and Allison Schuette.

In this interactive session, we’ll listen to a story and discuss freeing oneself from shame of anxiety/depression, connecting mental illness to other forms of “difference,” and naming need for allies across all forms of difference.

12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – QPR Training (CORE APPROVED) – Harre Union Heritage Room – Presented by Laura Sanders and Nell Colyn. This program requires registration. Please register here by Tuesday, January 25.

QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention is a 2 hour educational program designed to teach lay and professional “gatekeepers” the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond.

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Guided Meditation Practices for Awareness, Identity Acceptance, Loving-Kindness, and Connection – Brown & Gold Room A & B, Harre Union – Presented by Amber Mosley, Mike Moore, Adrianna Neri, Chloee Garay, and Daija O’Banion.

Engage in scheduled by topic area guided meditations and debrief opportunity with a Counselor.

7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Concentrative Meditation 101- Brown & Gold A & B, Harre Union – Presented by Stewart Cooper and Maya Losnedahl.

This experiential program will help participants learn about the history of concentrative meditation along with gaining instructions in how to practice it including practice and questions within the presentation itself.

Opportunity to engage in a variety of individual and community expressive art projects designed to bring healing, connection, and support to the individual and the Valpo Community.

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Listening Circle: The Impact of Social Media on Our Daily Life (CORE APPROVED) – Gandhi-King Room, Harre Union – Presented by Mike Moore and Olivia Gorman. This program requires registration. Please register here by Monday, January 24.
