MAY 2021: Due to the attendance caps on this year’s commencement ceremonies, you may be thinking, “I wish that professor that really inspired me could be there when I graduate.” Or, “That person from the OMP meant a lot to me — I wish they could be part of this milestone.” Or, “I really wish I could be part of my students’ celebration.”

This year we will be holding Baccalaureate as a time set apart to honor those important student-mentor relationships. Students, invite the professors and staff who mean a lot to you. Staff and faculty, invite your students to join you. Use this as a time to celebrate the journey you have made together.

The Baccalaureate service will take place on Sunday, May 16, at 9:30 a.m. at the Chapel of the Resurrection. The service will include reflections from senior students Estefany Bocangel Gamara, Deuce LaRose, and Abigail Seeber and also President Padilla. While faculty and staff are not expected to wear their regalia to this service, students are encouraged to wear their caps and gowns. In keeping with COVID precautions, masks must be worn. Since attendance will be capped at 100, please reserve your space using this link. Baccalaureate also will be livestreamed. The service is also being carried live on WVUR (95.1 FM), Valparaiso University’s student-run radio station.
