BIOGRAPHY

Professor Ruud arrived at VU as a Lilly Postdoctoral Fellow in 2021 after receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. She specializes in literature of the English Renaissance—especially Shakespeare—with a focus on rhetoric and the visual arts.

Over the past decade, Professor Ruud has taught courses in Rhetoric and Writing, Professional Writing, and Research Writing as well as Shakespeare, Women in English Literature Before 1800, Literature as Memorial, Shakespeare for Performance, and First Year Seminars in the Thematic Option honors program at the University of Southern California and in Christ College, the Honors College at Valparaiso University.

She received her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in 2020 with support from the USC Visual Studies Research Institute and the USC-Huntington Early Modern Studies Institute. Her work appears in Philological Quarterly and The Routledge Companion to Adaptation and is forthcoming in The Shakespearean Death Arts: Hamlet Among the Tombs (Palgrave Shakespeare Studies).
