Valparaiso University acknowledges the responsibility of a faith-based university to care for creation by spanning environmental stewardship through the university’s operations, academia, research, and service to balance todays and tomorrows economic, environmental, and social demands. We aim to transform the University by operational and economic measurements, expanding curriculum, and implementing outreach initiatives.
- Build awareness, understanding and culture of sustainability around campus operations, academic programs, research, initiatives, service projects and student life
- Make strategic decisions that simultaneously consider and advance ecological balance, economic prosperity, and social development. The sustainability committee will help guide decisions that help the university consider the sustainability perspective
- VU is committed to sustainable development and operating practices through the responsible management of building design, construction, and renovation, landscape practices, energy use, water and waste management, emissions, transportation, and procurement, within a framework of regulatory compliance and fiscal prudence.
