Forever Valpo New York

Ginger Zee ’02, chief meteorologist for ABC News and Good Morning America, joined Valpo alumni and friends at the March 31 Forever Valpo event at the New York Athletic Club. During her brief remarks, Ginger shared how her Valpo education impacted her life. She described herself as “shy,” and only upon the encouragement of one of her meteorology professors did she complete an internship that led to a career in front of the camera. Ginger also mentioned that she would not have been able to attend Valpo without the scholarship support she received.

Campaign Executive Committee member Larry Zimmerman served as MC and Dean Peter Kanelos spoke about the impact of Forever Valpo on Christ College. President Mark Heckler wrapped up the evening with an update on the Campaign. New York City was the seventh regional Campaign event since the campus kick-off on Sept. 23, 2017.

Forever Valpo Campus Kickoff

September 23, 2016

On a night to remember, Valparaiso University launched Forever Valpo: The Campaign for Our Future – a $250 million endowment campaign that will establish permanent support for scholarships, faculty development, and programs.

More than 2,000 members of the Valpo family attended the Sept. 23, 2016, kick-off celebration in the Athletics-Recreation Center (ARC) and heard remarks from President Mark A. Heckler and the four Campaign Co-Chairs – Jay Christopher ’67, ’99H, Joyce Hagen ’79, Bob Hansen ’82, and Andy Nunemaker ’91.

The celebration really ramped up when President Heckler was joined on stage by the co-chairs, a throbbing beat filled the ARC, and 2,000 LED wristbands illuminated the audience. “Let’s celebrate Forever Valpo,” President Heckler declared as the curtain dropped for the Barenaked Ladies concert.

If you were on campus, you felt the excitement generated from the Campaign kick-off, the football team’s win, and the largest Homecoming attendance ever.
