Academic Support

“It’s such a close-knit department, and they really care about their students succeeding.”

Katie Ertell

Courses in the geography and meteorology department are rigorous, and the department is committed to the success of every student. Students praise the accessibility of faculty members, who are always willing to help students wrestle with difficult concepts. In addition, the department hires advanced students as lab assistants and study assistants to ensure that less-experienced students have peer guidance and support.

  • Student assistants in geography offer a weekly help session.
  • The Valparaiso University Weather Center is staffed from 7 to 10 p.m. every Monday through Thursday by meteorology students to help fellow students with meteorology, math, and physics work.
  • The meteorology honor society, Chi Epsilon Pi matches incoming students with upper-level classmates for one-on-one tutoring and mentoring.
