Qualification. In order to be eligible for the MACS Teacher Track Scholarship, an applicant must be: A citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America Actively teaching in a public or private P-12 setting Be admitted in the MACS teacher track and enroll in at least three credits per semester in the MACS P-12 Teacher Track program Submit a complete MACS P-12 Teacher Track Scholarship application  Description of the MACS P-12 Teacher Track Scholarship The MACS P-12 Teacher Scholarship will be offered in the form of tuition discount between 20 to 40% of the VU graduate tuition rate times credit hours taken. For example, the VU graduation tuition is $560.00 per credit for the 2012-2013 academic year. If you take a three-credit course, the total tuition without the scholarship will be $1,680.00. However, if you are awarded MACS P-12 Teacher Track Scholarship of 40% tuition discount, your actual total tuition payment for the three- credit course will be $1008.00; Once the scholarship is awarded, the percentage of tuition discount will be good for three years from the date a student starts the program though the absolute amount may vary depending on the annual adjustment of the VU graduate tuition rate with these two conditions: The recipient remains in good academic conditions (with a GPA of B or above); The recipient remains active in the Program with registration of at least three credits per semester in fall and spring. It is optional for the recipient to register for summer online courses (offered from VU in the US only). If he/she does, the same scholarship package applies; The above-mentioned MACS P-12 Teacher Scholarship does not apply for tuition or program fees associated with the summer programs in China as the programs carry special financial arrangements in terms of tuition, program fees, and travel allowance of their own; GRADUATE APPLICATION I. Scholarship Essay (submitted in addition to the reflective essay) If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, a research assistantship or a teaching assistantship, please write a short essay (200 word maximum, typed, double-spaced & attached) explaining your qualifications and need. Scholarships are outright grants whereas assistantships involve about 10 hrs/week working with program faculty; students employed full time would generally not be eligible for this latter award. A single essay will suffice for either award, but if you have a preference or limitation regarding either one, indicate so in your essay. Helpful information might include (but need not be limited to) any special skills or experiences you have, particular goals not mentioned in your general essay, research projects you have carried out, and so on.   III.
