There are so many important events happening on campus throughout the year. We can’t always be host, but we are always happy to partner! Here are just a couple coming up this fall…
3:30pm in the Duesenberg Recital Hall (Valparaiso University Center for the Arts)
In partnership with the Valparaiso University Alumni Association
Welcoming the 2018 winners of the VUAA’s First Decade Achievement and Outstanding Young Alumna/Alumnus categories, we invite current students to come listen to folks who sat where they are not that long ago! What would they change about their Valpo experience and how did their time here shape them for the world beyond Valpo?
5:30pm in the Helge Center
In partnership with the Office of International Programs and the Chapel of the Resurrection
Millions of Muslims have migrated into the West over the past 50 years. Their arrival has ignited a series of fierce public debates on religious freedom and pluralism, tolerance and free speech, headscarves and airports, gender and race, and so much more. With each passing year the debates only seem to become more heated, complex, and fearful.
How are Christians responding to their new Muslim neighbors? How should they respond?Dr. Matt Kaemingk is the author of a new book Christian Hospitality and Muslim Immigration in an Age of Fear. He serves as an assistant professor of Christian Ethics at Fuller Theological Seminary.
In this public lecture Dr. Kaemingk will not only examine how Western Christians are currently responding to Muslim immigration, he will develop and discuss his alternative political ethic of Christian hospitality and pluralism.
