Health and Safety

Revised: April 6, 2022

All participants at the Institute are expected to abide by the health and safety protocols established by Valparaiso University in consultation with the Porter County Health Department and the Indiana State Health Department.

Because of the campus community’s high percentage of vaccination and low positivity rates in the region, mask usage is now optional for all fully vaccinated (defined as vaccinated and boosted) individuals. Unvaccinated guests and visitors are required to wear masks in all indoor campus locations.

Accordingly, the Institute encourages all attendees to make individual decisions about mask usage that are most appropriate for their locations, modes of travel, and personal health, as well as the most vulnerable members of the communities to which they return after the Institute.

Note that most workshops, especially those that include music or singing, have been scheduled in the largest available spaces that allow for distanced seating, and that seating in the Chapel of the Resurrection will include ample distance between chairs.

While there will be no mask requirement in effect, all attendees are kindly asked to accommodate requests regarding masks and safe distances by their respective seminar and workshop leaders.
