Pets for Vets 5K Run/Walk

Saturday, November 16, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Valparaiso University Fitness Center

Help a Vet Get a Pet is a program ran by the Valparaiso Law School’s Military and Veterans Law Association (MVLA).  The program raises funds to pay for the adoption fee of veterans who desire to adopt a pet.  The program also partners with trainers so that a dog can be trained to aid veterans with PTSD.  All proceeds from the 5k will go directly to Help a Vet Get a Pet. The purpose of the run is to generate funds to cover the cost to veterans when adopting pets from rescue animal shelters.

Check-in is in front of the fitness center starting at 1:00 p.m. PETS ARE WELCOME! Early entry fee: $10. Please contact Josh Frank at (716)-353-2946 or for more information.  Register through the website, or at the atrium during chapel break.

Patent Bar Exam Session

Wednesday, November 6, 6:00 p.m., Ulbricht Classroom

If you are a student with an undergrad degree (or at least two years of coursework) in engineering, computer sciences or the hard sciences (chemistry, biology, physics, some related fields), and are interested in becoming a Patent Agent or Attorney.

Practicing Law Institute (PLI) invites you to a presentation by Mark Dighton, PLI’s Director of Law School Relations and a Director of their Patent Bar Review Course. Topics for discussion include:

  • The latest info on the Patent Bar Exam,
  • Who can take it,
  • How it works, now that it’s on computer and “on demand,”
  • When you should take it (you don’t need to…and probably shouldn’t…wait until you graduate),
  • How the America Invents Act is impacting the Exam, and
  • Recommendations on when and how to study for this very difficult Exam.

Scholarships to PLI’s other IP programs will also be discussed.
