Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
In an effort to keep our community informed about the presence of COVID-19 on the Valpo campus, the University will report the number of active positive COVID-19 cases on campus. This number is posted on the Looking Forward webpage and will be regularly updated. In addition to posting the number of active cases on campus, information about protocol for positive cases and definitions of specific terms are included. Questions that cannot be answered by the information on the Looking Forward webpage can still be sent to: email@example.com.
Many people have asked about how the University will determine whether face-to-face instruction this semester will continue throughout the semester. The senior administration is monitoring numerous external and campus data points on a daily basis. Any decisions will be made based on collective holistic assessment of the situation and the University’s ability to respond to it. Some of these data points include the re-opening phase in Indiana and state, regional, and local positivity rates, as well as our campus positivity rate, the availability of quarantine beds on campus, our supply of PPE, and the level of compliance with preventive measures we have on campus and in the local community.
Valparaiso University remains committed to following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and the Porter County Health Department in making decisions for the health and safety of our University community.
