Bill Mackelfresh, Central Limit Theorem
The Central Limit Theorem is one of the most used theorems in all of statistics. In this talk I review a quick visualization , then go into a rigorous proof of the Central Limit Theorem. Using concepts such as Moment Generating Functions and Taylor’s Theorem, I use various properties to prove that the Central Limit Theorem it’s true.
Andrew Brouch, Spherical Geometry
Everyone knows the Pythagorean theorem, but where else can it be applied? Comparing Euclidean geometry to spherical geometry is just one way to expand our understanding of the Pythagorean theorem. This talk will go over the background of the Pythagorean theorem, proofs of the Pythagorean theorem in both Euclidean and spherical geometries and finally, how closely the two relate.
