Belated Pi Day celebration!

On Friday, April 6, the Mathematics and Statistics department will have some belated mathematical fun at Colloquium (mandatory fun for those registered in MATH x99):
Join the Math & Stats Department in celebrating:

(Belated) Pi Day!

Learn some fun facts about pi,
Hear some Pi Day poetry,
Play some Pi Day games,
Have the chance to win prizes,
And, of course, there will be PIE!

Thomas Shomer will also share some historical calculations of pi and describe Archimedes’ method for approximating pi.

Pi Day Poetry Contest:
Submit a poem (such as a limerick, a haiku, or a pi-ku–see flyers around Gellersen) inspired by or in honor of pi, and you could win a prize.  Poems should be submitted to Professor Melissa Desjarlais by midnight on Thursday, April 5.
