MST introduces cost-saving textbook initiative

When you take Calculus 1 or Finite Mathematics in Fall 2020 you will be charged a $25 textbook fee (refunded if the course is dropped). The Department of Mathematics and Statistics made a decision to move away from high-cost textbooks and high-cost homework systems. In these classes we are using Open Education Resource books and WeBWorK for Homework. The total cost of this for students is $25 per student. Our department will save over $27,000 this semester, and over $40,000 during this academic year for students in textbook costs through this process. We will gradually extend this cost saving through many mathematics courses the department offers.
