Adjunct Instructor of Music
Jim Konsbruck is a frequent performer in the Chicago area as a soloist as well as in ensemble. As a member of the Chicago Guitar Duo since 2006, he has been featured in recitals throughout the Midwest.
Earning his master of music from the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) of Roosevelt University, Konsbruck studied with Paul Henry in addition to CCPA faculty Denis Azabagic and Sergio Assad. He completed his undergraduate studies at Columbia College under the instruction of Norman Ruiz. At the esteemed “International Festival de la Guitarra” in Cordoba, Spain, he studied extensively in masterclasses with Pepe Romero and Manuel Barrueco.
Konsbruck serves on the board of directors for the Society of American Musicians. He joined the Valparaiso University faculty in 2004. In addition to teaching guitar, he directs the University Guitar Ensemble, serves as faculty advisor for the Music Enterprise Student Association (MESA), and teaches music technology and audio production.
