April 27, 2021 – Valparaiso, Indiana – Valparaiso University will require all students, faculty, and staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before returning to campus for the fall 2021 semester. The University will accommodate documented medical or religious exemptions.
“Valparaiso University holds the health and safety of our campus as our highest priority,” said José D. Padilla, J.D., University president. “As we look to provide our students the optimal college experience and learning environment, the University will continue to follow the guidance of local and national health experts. A vaccinated campus is the safest and most effective way to accomplish our objective of in-person instruction this fall.”
COVID-19 vaccinations are currently available in the state of Indiana at no cost to anyone age 16 or older. Valpo’s Student Health Center has ordered vaccines to administer to students, and they will be notified when appointments open.
The University currently requires enrolled students to be immunized for measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus and meningitis, and last fall required all students to receive the flu vaccine.
