Members of Valparaiso University student organization Engineers Without Borders recently embarked on a journey to remote areas of Tanzania to work on projects that are making a huge difference in the lives of Tanzanians.

Valpo engineers, alongside members of the Village of Masaera, completed an impressive structure in the Masaera Irrigation Canal in Kilimanjaro, allowing the community to check for possible environmental disaster and prevent catastrophic erosion.

Engineers Without Borders team members also collaborated with the Social Action Leadership Team to raise funds to assist in the completion of a kindergarten class at Mandaka Primary School this year. Together they raised the money through a sumo wrestling match held last spring between Valparaiso University President Mark Heckler and Provost Mark Schwehn.
