Institute for Leadership and Service at Valparaiso University Welcomes Philanthropist, Entrepreneur Andrew Nunemaker to Campus

CEO of Dynamis Software to Kick Off New Speakers Series on Oct. 17

Valparaiso University’s Institute for Leadership and Service will launch its new speaker series with Andrew Nunemaker ’91, an influential entrepreneur and philanthropist who will speak about “Leadership and Service in Action” on Thursday, Oct. 17. Nunemaker is CEO of Dynamis Software Corporation, a firm specializing in software solutions for health insurance brokers nationwide.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andy back to campus for the inaugural event of the Institute’s new speaker series,” said Elizabeth Lynn, director of the Institute for Leadership and Service. “Andrew’s sense of calling as a philanthropist and his insight into the surprising ways in which his college years prepared the way make him an ideal candidate to speak on leadership and service.”

In 2012, Lynn became the first director of the Institute for Leadership and Service, which works in conjunction with Campus Ministries to expand and enhance opportunities for experiential learning, service and vocational reflection throughout Valparaiso University’s curriculum and in the greater Valparaiso community.

The Institute’s new series invites guests to speak on calling and purpose in society, answering what it means to lead, give and serve. Nunemaker’s lecture is presented in partnership with the Christ College Symposium, a series sponsored by Valparaiso University’s honors college that features distinguished guests from all fields of scholarship, religion, the arts, public affairs and science.

Nunemaker earned his bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Valpo and currently serves on the University’s Board of Directors. Rising quickly to positions of leadership, Nunemaker served as CEO of GE Healthcare’s division in Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia, and as CEO of EMSystems, a leading developer of Web-based communications and resource management solutions for the medical industry.

Nunemaker serves on numerous non-profit boards, including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Art Museum, Young Presidents Organization and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. He holds a master of electrical engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was student body president.

The inaugural event for the speakers series will be Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Christopher Center Community Room on Valparaiso University’s campus. It is free and open to the public.
