Vice President for Community and Government Relations and Chief of Staff
Richard A. AmRhein ’12 J.D., serves as chief of staff for the office of the president. In his role as chief of staff, Vice President AmRhein is responsible for planning and executing a variety of activities within the president’s office.
Vice President AmRhein has been a member of the Valparaiso University administration since 1999. He most recently served as Valparaiso University’s chief information officer through May 2018. In his previous work as dean of library services, he helped to lead planning of the Christopher Center for Library and Information Resources, a learning and social center that opened in 2004 to bring all campus information services to a single location.
Before joining Valpo, Vice President AmRhein worked at Southern Illinois University as associate dean of library affairs. He also worked at University of Nevada-Las Vegas, first as head music librarian and then as director of technical services. Vice President AmRhein serves as secretary of the board of directors at Opportunity Enterprises, a local agency dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities.
