Interim Law School Dean and Professor of Law

Dean Cleveland joined the Law School faculty in 2012 as a Professor of Law and was named Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in 2016. A classically trained educator, experienced litigator, and accomplished scholar, Dean Cleveland specializes in legal writing, legal ethics, and federal court issues. He is a nationally recognized expert in the field of federal court practice and reform and a leader in the legal writing community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Legal Writing Directors. Dean Cleveland is a devoted advisor to students, often serving as a co-curricular or academic advisor and as a supervising professor for independent scholarly research. Dean Cleveland holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from Western Michigan University.
