Dean of the College of Engineering and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Eric Johnson ’87 is actively involved in teaching and learning activities in the College and in implementing design into the curriculum. Johnson was the director of the University’s study-abroad center in Reutlingen, Germany, from 2004-2007 and leads many of the College’s international engineering programs. He has served the College as chair of the International Affairs Committee since 2009 and was vice-president of the Faculty Senate from 2009-2010. He was honored with the Valparaiso University Alumni Association Outstanding Teaching Award in 2003, the same year he was selected for the Paul and Cleo Brandt Professorship of Engineering.

Johnson specializes in digital-systems design, nanotechnology, international engineering, and engineering pedagogy. His professional affiliations include The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, American Society for Engineering Education, Order of the Engingeer, Sigma Xi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Tau Beta Pi.
