Winter Break Housing

The residence halls close for Winter Break on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2023 at noon and will reopen after Winter Break on SUNDAY, JANUARY 7, 2024 at noon. Break housing students will transition to their academic year assignments on SUNDAY, JANUARY 7, 2024 by 5 pm.

BREAK HOUSING QUALIFICATIONS
Limited Break Housing is available for the following reasons:

  • International Students
  • VU athletes in mid-season with practice and/or games over break
  • Students whose home is 500 or more miles from Valparaiso, Indiana
  • Students participating in a credit-bearing activity such as student teaching, internship, or co-op

Students ARE NOT automatically eligible for break housing if they hold an on or off-campus job that is not directly associated with a credit-bearing academic program.

During the break period, university dining will not be open. Students are responsible for their own food during the break period.

If you do not meet any of the above criteria for Break Housing, you may submit a request based on an “Other” type of reason. PLEASE NOTE that if you are approved for Break Housing for non-University-related reason(s), you will be charged a $25 per night fee for utilizing University Break Housing.
