Weather update: final exams and University operations

Final exams scheduled to take place Monday, Dec. 13, will proceed as scheduled. However, given the inclement weather conditions expected to continue into Monday, faculty and students are urged to exercise caution in determining whether or not they can safely travel to campus.

Other regular University operations will be cancelled due to current and forecasted inclement weather conditions. University personnel required to perform essential functions should check with managers regarding work schedules and report as conditions permit.

Faculty who are unable to safely make it to campus to give a final scheduled for Monday should alert their students and provide for alternate arrangements. Students also should notify their professors if weather conditions prevent them from attending a final exam that proceeds as scheduled Monday, and work with the professor to develop arrangements for making up the exam.

In all cases, faculty members and students are encouraged to be flexible in completing final exams this week.

All academic buildings, Harre Union, the Christopher Center and the ARC will remain open and dining services will be provided to students as regularly scheduled on Dec. 13.

The campus community is reminded that information about cancellations or delays will be sent via e-mail and posted on the home page of the University’s Web site as well as the Chicagoland Emergency Closing Center (http://www.emergencyclosingcenter.com/complete.html). Closing and delay information also will be provided to WAKE 1500/WLJE 105.5 (Valparaiso), WZVN 107.1 (Lowell),WXRD 103.9 (Crown Point), WJOB 1230 (Gary), WLPR 89.1 (Merrillville), WIMS 1420/WEFM 95.9(Michigan City), WLOI 1540/WCOE 96.7 (LaPorte), WKVI 99.3/1520 (Knox),WBBM and WGN radio in Chicago, and Chicago television stations.
