Valparaiso University to Host 43rd Season of Lutheran Summer Music
Valparaiso University is proud to host over 200 students, faculty, fellows and staff from across the nation as they come together for a summer of music and worship with the 43rd annual Lutheran Summer Music (LSM) season. This season will feature over 30 concerts, recitals and worship events, running from June 22 to July 20, 2025. All LSM events are free and open to the public.
“Lutheran Summer Music provides the students with a world-class university music experience, regardless of whether the student will pursue music as a profession,” said Jeffrey Scott Doebler, Professor of music. “Hosting LSM on the Valpo campus gives the high school students the opportunity to live university life for a month. It’s great preparation for college. The students, faculty, fellows, and staff also add to the cultural life of our community with concerts and worship services on campus and throughout Valparaiso.”
Highlights include the Music and Worship Series, featuring the beloved Bach Cantata Eucharist, the inspiring Festival of Hymns, and the debut of the Faculty Organ Recital. During Festival Week, guests can experience the culmination of the summer through powerful performances by the Festival Band, Orchestra, and Choir.
This year, the LSM Fellows — a group of accomplished young musicians from colleges and conservatories across the country — will be taking the festival off of campus and into the Valparaiso Community with the Fellow Recital Series. Concerts will take place Sunday, June 29 at 3:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sunday, July 6 at 4 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church, and on Wednesday, July 9 at 6 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
The 2025 season of LSM will culminate during Festival Week, July 14 through July 20, featuring a wide variety of performances, including student recitals, chamber music, jazz and musical theater offerings, and plenty of opportunities to join in worship and prayer.
Events will take place at the Duesenberg Recital Hall and the Chapel of the Resurrection. A complete list of Fellow Recital Concerts, student and staff concerts and events can be found in the online 2025 brochure found here. Those that cannot participate in-person are encouraged to join via livestream here.
