Extended Stay Housing

The residence halls close on SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2024, at NOON. Students MUST VACATE the buildings by this time. Students who meet select criteria can request Extended Stay Housing to stay in their building until Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 9 am.

EXTENDED STAY HOUSING QUALIFICATIONS

Students who meet the following criteria may apply for extended stay housing in their building:

  • International Students
  • VU athletes competing in an in-season sport
  • Current senior graduating in May 2024
  • Sibling of a graduating senior who also attends Valparaiso University
  • Students participating in graduation ceremonies (choral, band, orchestra, ushers, etc.)
  • Students registered for Summer Session I, who are staying in University-owned summer housing
  • Student workers who are essential for campus operations

Students ARE NOT automatically eligible for extended stay housing if they hold an on or off-campus job that is not directly associated with a credit-bearing academic program.

If you do not meet any of the above criteria for Extended Stay Housing, you may submit a request based on an “Other” type of reason. PLEASE NOTE that if you are approved for Extended Stay Housing for reasons outside of the above criteria, you will be charged a $25 per night fee for utilizing University Extended Stay Housing.

HOW TO APPLY FOR EXTENDED STAY HOUSING
Extended Stay Housing applications are available on your Housing Self-Service. To access your Housing Self-Service page log onto DataVU then select “Housing Self-Service.” Once on your Housing Self-Service page, select the “Applications” tab and then select the “Extended Stay Request.”

EXTENDED STAY HOUSING APPLICATION DEADLINE
The Office of Residential Life must receive applications for Extended Stay housing by 5 pm on Monday, April 29, 2024. Additionally, students who do not properly sign up for break housing by the posted deadlines and need accommodations may also have to pay a late application fee ($50) to receive permission to reside on campus during the break period.

Please remember that completion of this application does not guarantee permission for extended stay.
