Earth Week

Each year Valpo celebrates Earth Day with an entire week of activities such as batter recycling, Goodwill drop boxes and Adopt a Highway.

Reduce paper use. Use rags instead of paper towels; cloth napkins instead of paper ones. Buy post-consumer recycled paper and recycle it when you've used it.

Create Earth Day Bulletin Board. Put up an Earth Day bulletin board during April that offers employees new energy-saving tips each week.

Americans use 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour.

About 80% of what Americans throw away is recyclable, yet our recycling rate is only 28%.

The average American uses 650 pounds of paper each year – 100 million tons of wood could be saved each year if all that paper was recycled.
