Let play be your work.

An education in theatre begins with one class and can last a lifetime. Students at Valpo explore the history of theatre, from ancient to contemporary work. They stage productions, direct plays, and sing in musicals. And, lest you take things too seriously, the faculty will remind you: there’s a reason each production is called a play.

A Range of Opportunities

The theatre’s department courses contribute to students’ general education and can be applied in a variety of professional fields. Students can choose courses in:

  • acting, voice and movement for the stage, and dance
  • costume and makeup, stagecraft, scenery, and lighting
  • playwriting, play directing, and dramatic literature
