EMORY G. BAUER FIELD

Emory G. Bauer Field has been home to the Valparaiso University baseball team since the 1970 season.

Constructed at the Eastgate Athletic Fields, major renovations to the facility have taken place in recent years. During the 2021 season, the team debuted its new synthetic turf on the infield and down the foul lines. The turf installation was made possible by lead gifts from Valpo alumni Lynn Scheutzow ’74 Young and Carl Young ’73 and the Deetjen family. The Young and Deetjen families both had sons who played baseball at Valpo.

A state-of-the-art clubhouse sits along the first-base line, featuring offices for the Valpo coaches and staff members. Two locker rooms provide ample space for the team. The complex also features a training room and indoor hitting cages. A team room allows for the players and staff to feel right at home.

An athletic training room facility is also located within the confines of the clubhouse. In 2018, the program added a weight room to its clubhouse facility.

The exterior of the clubhouse connects with Emory G. Bauer Field to provide an above-ground home dugout.

With a grandstand seating capacity of 500, fans will also line the third-base line on sunny days beyond the visitors’ dugout in their own lawn chairs.

A press box with radio-broadcast capabilities is perched atop the grandstand.
