Professor Miranda Jack joined the Valparaiso University faculty in spring of 2011 after earning a M.A. in English studies and communications with an extra certificate in TESOL from Valparaiso University.
Professor Jack teaches English 300: An Introduction to Professional Writing and CORE 110/115. In the spring of 2012, Professor Jack joined the Books and Coffee committee and enjoyed presenting her own book review. She is also an adjunct instructor at Ivy Tech Community College in Valparaiso, and teaches two sections of English 111: Freshman Composition I. Professor Jack admits that both teaching positions continually teach her more about her field as well as her students, which is something she loves about her job.
Before teaching at Valparaiso University, Professor Jack worked as an English teacher with both seventh and eleventh grade students in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and has a Colorado secondary teaching license. She was also a full-time pre-school teacher at Hilltop Neighborhood House in Valparaiso, Indiana. This wide range of teaching experience helps her to create different classroom activities and discussions to engage students of all ages.
In her spare time, Professor Jack enjoys watching films, traveling, reading, exercising, and spending time with her family.
