Bell Tower

Standing 143 feet tall between the Chapel of the Resurrection and the Christopher Center for Library and Information Resources, is the August H. and Ella Louise Brandt Campanile bell tower. The bells were a gift from the University Guild in 1980. The melodious chimes of the tower’s 12 bells echo throughout campus each day, and the ringing was notably missing summer 2017 when, for the first time in the tower’s nearly 40-year history, all 12 bells were removed simultaneously for cleaning and repair. The bell tower was fully functioning to greet students fall 2017, a welcome expectation for most returning students and a memorable part of the Valpo experience.
