Valpo’s German program offers generous scholarships.

  • Merit-based Scholarships are available for qualified, incoming first-year students who declare a major in a language program offered by the Department of World Languages and Cultures. Students may declare a second major and still be eligible. Interested students are strongly encouraged to apply before December 1 for admission to the university.
  • The Professor Carol Petersen Scholarship is awarded every year to an incoming student majoring in German or studying French ($1,000, freshman year only). Students are nominated for these scholarships.
  • German majors who study abroad in Tübingen or Rottenburg are considered for a Henry and June Giebel Study Abroad Scholarship.
  • Valpo German students may apply for other scholarships through entities such as the state of Baden-Württemberg and Delta Phi Alpha (the National German Honor Society). Valpo German faculty members advise students about applying for these scholarships when they become eligible.
