Crusaders Bring In Iowa State Transfer

Cory Johnson appeared in 55 games in his two seasons at Iowa State.

Valparaiso men’s basketball head coach Homer Drew announced today that Cory Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) will join the Crusader program after spending his first two seasons at Iowa State. Johnson, a 6’7”, 230 lb. forward, must sit out the 2008-09 season under NCAA transfer guidelines, and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2009-10 campaign.

Crusaders Fall to Houston in CBI Quarterfinal

Urule Igbavboa led Valpo Monday with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Valparaiso held a 20-19 lead over Houston halfway through the first half of the two squads’ College Basketball Invitational quarterfinal matchup Monday evening in Houston, Texas, but the Cougars took the lead shortly thereafter and led the rest of the way, eventually earning a 91-67 victory....Full Story

Crusaders Win Postseason Thriller Over Washington

Shawn Huff scored the final points in Valpo's win Wednesday.

Shawn Huff (Helsinki, Finland/Makelanrinne) scored the eventual game-winning basket with 2:45 to play and Valparaiso held Washington scoreless the rest of the way as the Crusaders earned a thrilling 72-71 victory over the Huskies in opening round action of the College Basketball Invitational Wednesday evening in Seattle, Wash.  Valpo advances to the quarterfinals of the inaugural CBI and will face Houston on Monday.
