Valpo Esports Hosts Bethel for Super Smash Bros Ultimate

On September 30th Valpo Esports Hosted Bethel University to play their in-conference Super Smash Bros Ultimate competition.

Valpo Varsity Super Smash Bros Ultimate going into the game were undefeated with a record of 4-0, while Bethel was 3-1.  This match not only had big implications for postseason play, but over the years of competition, these teams have become friendly foes. Bethel University on the morning of September 30th made the trek over from neighboring South Bend, Indiana to compete In Valpo’s state-of-the-art Esports facility.  This was the first time in program history that Valpo Esports has hosted an in-person competition or tournament.

The event was a huge success and with the new facility, we look forward to the opportunity of hosting teams and events in the future as well.

Unfortunately, the Smash team fell 0-2 in a best-of-three series to Bethel, but both teams had a great time and were able to get in some meaningful practice following the game. The Valpo Smash team continues to fight for a top spot in the conference heading into playoffs.
