Valpo Esports Hosts Intramural Smash Tournament

Saturday December 2nd Valpo Esports Partnered with the Department of Campus Recreation and Well-Being to host an Intramural Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament.

With a total of 12 participants in the double elimination tournament Alumni Samson Canchola reigned victorious.

Samson competed with two characters throughout the course of the tournament.  Pokemon Trainer and Sephiroth, Canchola’s Sephiroth defeated Moran’s Little Mac in the Grand Finals with a score of three to one.  Moran notably lost his first round bout and proceeded to win five matches in a row in the losers bracket to reach the Grand Finals.  Samson said in a post match interview “I was relieved I could get the win after my second placement last year.  I am happy I could be here, get to meet some new people and just get to play some Smash”.  Samson placed second place in last year’s intramural tournament, but was able to take first place this year.  Samson credited his win to his defensive playstyle and patience in his finals match.

Bracket Results can be found on Valpo’s IMLeagues Website, additionally the recording of the Finals match can be found at valpoesports on Twitch.
