Valpo Esports Joins the Missouri Valley Conference

In a groundbreaking move for collegiate esports, Valparaiso University’s esports program has joined the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), for its Inaugural season. This landmark decision marks the first time a team from Valpo’s esports program will compete in a conference as prestigious as the MVC, solidifying the program’s position as a leader in the Midwest and showcasing its commitment to competitive excellence.

The Missouri Valley Conference is a NCAA Division I athletic conference with a rich history and tradition. Founded in 1907, the MVC sponsors competitions in 17 sports for its 12 member institutions.

“This is a monumental moment for Valpo esports and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff,” said Graduate Assistant Henry Woofter.

Valpo will initially compete in three esports titles: Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

This significant move comes on the heels of Valpo’s recent esports successes, including five championships in its first four years. The team’s strong performance and dedication to academic excellence have positioned them as a rising star in the collegiate esports landscape. This move is anticipated to further generate interest and engagement in esports at Valpo and across the region.

The conference tournaments in the three titles will take place in April, dates and location for the post-season championships will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
