FOUNDERS THANKSGIVING FEAST

Everyone on campus looks forward to this exciting day each year at the dining hall: Founders Thanksgiving Feast! Founders did not disappoint this year as they served delicious Thanksgiving staple food items: mashed potatoes, carved ham, roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and more. All of our food stations, Spoon & Fork, the 1859 Grill, Clean Plate, Center Market, V2, Oven, and Bravo all featured festive seasonal foods.

Founders Thanksgiving Feast is one of my favorite on-campus traditions and a day that so many students get excited about. It’s a fun way to celebrate with friends since we don’t get to spend the actual day of Thanksgiving together. It’s also a great way to wrap up the week before we leave for Thanksgiving break. This week the weather had gotten particularly chilly, so the hot food was extra appreciated! Also, as someone with food allergies, I was thrilled to see there were even gluten-free rolls and pumpkin pie available!

It will be a year until we get to eat Founders’ amazing feast again, but in the meantime, we’re looking forward to pop-ups in the union like the hot chocolate bars which make the cold walks to class a bit more tolerable. At Grinders and in BB’s cafe, the Starbucks holiday drinks will return, including my personal favorite, hot peppermint mochas. Another favorite Valpo tradition is coming up too: the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting! We can’t wait for the yummy Christmas cookies that will be served that night!
