WHO: Kade-Duesenburg German House & Cultural Center

WHAT: A film screening of Abschied von gestern (Yesterday Girl). Director Alexander Kluge, the 2003 Georg-Büchner Prize winner, adapted his own story “Anita G.” for the cinema. Anita is a young East German woman who comes to West Germany with hope for a better life.

The exhibit celebrates contemporary German literature. The “Deutsche Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung” annually awards the Georg-Büchner Prize to an outstanding writer in German. The exhibit displays the prize-winners works and explains why each winner was chosen for the honor, in German and in English.
