Externship Spring 2013 Orientation

If you have been selected for a SPRING 2013 externship, please review the FAQ section of the law externship website http://www.valpo.edu/law/current-students/c-career/c-externships/c-frequently-asked-questions  and confirm that you are properly registered in DataVU to obtain the academic credit.  Please attend the mandatory orientation below that fits your extern selection.

SPRING 2013 Extern Orientation dates:

Non-Judicial – Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 11:00 a.m., in Heritage courtroom with Professor Cichowski

State Judicial – Mon., Jan. 14 at 11:00 am in Heritage courtoom with Professor Vance.

Attendance is mandatory and the Spring 2013 externship syllabi will be distributed. Please attend dressed in professional business attire as photos will be taken of externs for the Leaders in Law board to be updated for Spring. See Lisa Cannon if you have questions.

Spring Mock Interview Program

Being interviewed are activities that require attention and practice. Make sure you have prepared for your next interview by asking and answering questions. Participating in a mock interview gives you a chance to receive valuable feedback and tips for having a successful interview.

*Important Note – In order to participate in resume collects or Spring 2013 on-campus interviews for Summer, Fall or Spring externships, all students must participate in a mock interview first. Employers begin to visit campus in late January and early February.

Expert Tips on Cover Letters, Resumes, Interviewing, and Networking

This two-part webinar series, co-sponsored by NALP and Equal Justice Works, will provide law students and counselors with insight on the key elements of the summer public-interest job application process. Attorneys with years of application review experience will highlight do’s and don’ts; explain how and why public interest application materials may substantively differ from law firm materials; and explore the dynamics of personal interactions in interviews and networking situations. While the webinars will focus on the public interest job search, the information is applicable to all postgraduate positions.
