Distinguished Alumnus Presentation and Luncheon with Mark Olson

The Career Planning Center’s November Distinguished Alumnus is Mark Olson’65.

Mr. Olson will be giving a presentation November 13, from 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., in Pelzer. He will have lunch with students following the presentation from 11:40 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., in Brassfield.

To attend the presentation or the luncheon, you must RSVP through Strategy (they are two separate registrations).

Formation of New CPC Student Advisory Committee

The Career Planning Staff is seeking to form a new CPC Student Advisory Committee for the Spring 2013 semester. This new Committee will be made up of two 1L students, two 2L students and one 3L student.  The Law School will pay up to $40 per student to specifically cover the cost of a bar association membership in an association selected by each individual student committee member.

Job Description for Student Members

Attend 1 monthly meeting with Senior Director of Career Planning. Work at exhibit table in Atrium one day per month during Chapel Break – goal is to talk to fellow students about CPC and the new Alumni Mentoring Program, and to hand out printed information from CPC. Promote and attend 3 CPC events each semester (Note, if any of these events includes an outside speaker, may be asked to introduce the speaker.)

Organize a small group of students to attend 2 networking functions outside of the law school each semester and to report back on event to CPC. Will be assigned to work with 3 different student organizations as a liaison to CPC

a.    Promote CPC events that would be of particular interest to members of this organization.

b.    Make one presentation at an organization’s meeting regarding CPC services.

c.    Take informal poll of members of organization about how CPC services and programming could be improved; short written report must be completed about suggestions from each organization. Test new resources, primarily new databases with job postings, for CPC consideration.
