VALPARAISO UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL HOSTS REGIONAL TRIAL COMPETITION
We are proud to share highlights from the 2017 Region 8 National Trial Competition hosted by Valparaiso University Law School January 26-28. Eighteen teams from throughout Indiana and Illinois competed in three rounds of mock trials based on a fictional criminal case. Congratulations to Northwestern School of Law and Chicago-Kent College of Law, earning the top two spots and advancing to the national championships held in Ft. Worth, Texas in March.
“We were pleased to host this mock trial competition for Region 8 of the National Trial Competition. As demonstrated by the students competing to advance to the national rounds in Texas, replicating the trial experience, from opening statements to closing arguments, reinforces the tools students need to become competent, practice-ready law school graduates. Our law school aims to be a leader in the field of experiential education, and this is yet another step in that process,” said Derrick Howard, Associate Dean for Experiential Learning.
