Valparaiso University Law School Moot Court Society Members Win First Place at the National Juvenile Law Moot Court Competition
Three members of the Valparaiso University Law School Moot Court Society competed in the 18th Annual National Juvenile Law Moot Court Competition hosted by Whittier Law School. The event occurred in February and featured 12 teams.
Katlyn Rowe and Whitney Rhew competed. They were coached by Ebonee Dawson and James Willyard assisted by judging the team’s practice rounds. Rowe was named 6th Best Oralist in the Preliminary Rounds. The team defeated UC Hastings in the Final Round.
The case featured issues of Juvenile Law regarding whether a mother’s parental rights should be terminated and whether her young child should be placed with her aunt or the foster parents.
