Why History at Valpo?

Everything has a past. A major in History will prepare you to understand the world, its systems and its people. Studying history at Valpo encourages students to understand the complexity of the human past in order to make informed decisions about the present. Students in Valpo history classes analyze evidence, craft arguments, conduct research, and organize public presentations—all useful skills for a variety of career paths. At Valpo you’ll be able to choose your own path where you’ll develop and master skills that will allow success no matter what career path you choose. Through experiential learning History students also can put your skills to work through our department’s growing public history internship program.
