Valpo Alum Wins Prestigious NSF CAREER Grant
Rachael (Jensema) Filwett, a graduate of Valpo’s Physics & Astronomy program in 2013, joined Montana State University as an Assistant Professor of physics this year, specializing in space weather and solar physics. This fall, she was awarded the very prestigious NSF CAREER Grant which funds promising researchers early in their careers. She and her students will be studying the interaction of solar winds and the solar magnetic fields, along with creating new course work and outreach programs aimed at teaching the general public more about solar physics.
