Noise Policy

The Christopher Center is a place to read, study, and conduct research—as well as a place for collaboration, teaching, and learning.

The third and fourth floors of the Christopher Center are quiet study areas. Please be considerate of others using the library to read, study, and conduct research; if your work requires collaboration—or you are just talking with friends—please gather on the first or second floor.

The first and second floors of the Christopher Center are not quiet areas; these are areas in which business is transacted, research is done, and library users work in groups. Those working on a group project might also consider using one of the study rooms on the third or fourth floor.

To facilitate an environment that is conducive to learning, users of the Library should respect the rights of others and refrain from disruptive behavior such as making excessive noise in all parts of the Library.
